Our founder, Warnita Taylor had a vision that all youth should be given the opportunity and support to go to college. After making the transition from high school to college at DePaul University, Warnita saw first-hand that many resources needed in order to apply to college were unavailable. Warnita was fully aware that many of her peers lacked the family support system from which she had benefited as she applied to college. In January 2001, Warnita and two of her friends organized a fashion show to raise scholarship money for high school students who lacked financial resources to attend college. It was from that modest beginning that Dime Child Foundation was born.
Since Warnita's strategic partnership with visionary Robert Taylor, Dime Child Foundation has evolved from an informal organization providing scholarships to a small number of college-bound youth to a colossal 501c 3 organization that serves 350 youth yearly throughout the city of Chicago and surrounding areas.
